Sunny & warm weekend for Montreal

Wow the sun came up today, imagine that! It will rapidly fade behind increasing clouds as a weak disturbance generates showers and scattered thunderstorms across eastern Ontario and southern Quebec today. Temperatures will be mild today at 19C (66F), but still below the normal high of 22C (72F). The good news is that skies will clear out this evening and overnight. There will be patchy fog as temperatures drop down to a cool 9C (48F). The weekend looks spectacular with wall to wall sunshine both days and high temperatures from 22 to 25C (72-77F). The next chance for precipitation will not come until early next week. Temperatures will trend at or slightly above normal.

Saskatchewan Thunderstorms

Those of you who know me are aware of the fact that I lived in southern Saskatchewan for three years, working as a reporter for the Gravelbourg Tribune. I must tell you, they are some of the best people I have ever been among. I must also tell you it is a spectacular location, maybe the best I have been in, to watch thunderstorms develop and move around. This week was one of those occasions when a line of thunderstorms swept across the southwest corner of the province late Wednesday. They affected many communities I am so familiar with including Kincaid. The photo above was taken on the Ross farm located outside Kincaid. Damage resembles that of a tornado, but Environment Canada has yet to confirm such. The storms swept the southern half of the province with strong winds, hail and an impressive lightning display.
